Grad Night 1980?

Was anybody else there? I've been trying to remember the bands that were there. I remember K.C and the Sunshine Band was in front of ther Castle and Kool and the Gang was in Tomorrowland on that big stage. Someone else was at the old Tomorrowland Terrace...some solo artist, I think. Anybody have a better memory than me? Anybody not embarassed to admit you saw K.C and the Sunshine Band?Thanks!

I was at Disneyland for Grad 80 night and remember seeing Kool and the Gang being on Huck Fins raft.....playing "Celebration"....it was awesome....

Okay.. sixteen years later and a reply from someone who was there... Yes, it was probably May 1980 and I remember KC and the Sunshine Band at the Castle, but all the cool white kids were digging Kool and the Gang.. I don't want to say my high school bu tit began with Clearwater Central and ended with High School... I wanted to say the band no one remembers was Tavares... something like that.. I'm old...

Wow. A reply after 16 years. I might still have hope of dating Elizabeth
Hurley. ;-)

I think I was in my late-teens or early-twenties when Tavares played in
a local bar. I wasn't a fan but went along with some friends. I'm still
not a fan.

Barb. Oh, and you'll probably need to move to Utah and live on a
compound (we Just got through binge-watching "Big Love" - if you haven;t
seen it, do try it).

I think the only song by them I remember was "Free Ride", and it was
just OK. I'd have not gone out of my way to see them perform.

I remember seeing Sisters Sledge at one of the Grad Night concerts in WDW where KC and Sunshine Band was in front of the Castle. I just can't remember the year if it was 81, 82??? I was in University in Daytona Beach, and a big group went for the concert line up. I also remember one where Kool and the Gang was in front of the castle.

Trevares was another one that night. I was there with my date, who just turned 18 two weeks prior. I wouldn’t go out with her until she turned 18, though I was only 20 myself. A great night for sure!!

Lets see if we can answer Storkel's question 43 years after the events. I'm not sure if the event in question, took place at Walt Disney World or at Disneyland, but probably DL given the acts.
